BP Ventures announced it invested $5 million in an artificial intelligence developer Belmont Technology, a Houston-based startup formed three years ago to create tools that analyze geological information. Belmont has a cloud-based, artificial intelligence database that BP can feed with “platform geology, geophysics, reservoir and historic project information,” it said. BP Ventures is the venture capital arm of BP. In January, it also invested around $5 million in Powershare, which runs an online platform connecting electric-vehicle drivers with charge point operators and energy suppliers in China.
