In order to pay down some of its commercial paper, Sempra energy raised $700
million through the sale of 5.75% junior subordinated notes due 2079 on June 13. The
notes were sold in denominations of $25 each. Underwriters were granted a $105
million overallotment option. Proceeds will also be used for working capital and general
purposes, which may include
debt repayment.
