The Utica shale appears to be productive much farther northeast than previously anticipated, based on results recently released by Shell for two exploration wells drilled in Tioga Co., Pennsylvania. Drilled over 100 miles northeast of the nearest horizontal Utica producer, the Gee-832-2V well had an initial flowback rate of 11.2 MMcfd from a 3,100-ft lateral with 13 frac stages.
