Provident’s midstream operations, strategically located to benefit from the growth in alberta’s oil sands, have generated more than $200 million in EBITDA per year for the past two years. In anticipation of legislated tax changes in 2011, the Trust is undertaking a strategic review process aimed at evaluating structural options for the Canadian upstream and midstream business units. The objective is to enhance and protect value for investors by improving access to and cost of capital. In conjunction with this review, Provident has also announced its intention to dispose of its u.s. oil and gas investments. Our goal is to facilitate growth and optimize the structure of the business to be competitive in advance of the 2011 tax on income trusts.
