Penn Virginia Oil & Gas LP operates as a subsidiary of Penn Virginia Corporation.

Penn Virginia Corporation is an independent oil and gas company primarily engaged in the development, exploration and production of natural gas and oil through the Company's wholly owned subsidiary, Penn Virginia Oil & Gas Corporation, or PVOG.

Penn Virginia also owns partner interests in Penn Virginia Resource Partners, L.P., (NYSE: PVR), which is involved in the coal and natural resource management and natural gas midstream businesses, and Penn Virginia GP Holdings, L.P., or PVG, which owns PVR’s general partner.

In 2010, Penn Virginia transitioned to a “pure play” E&P (exploration and production) company, and began to refocus its operations to drill in economically attractive natural gas, oil and NGL-rich areas.

The Company's operations include both conventional and unconventional developmental drilling opportunities, as well as some exploratory prospects.
