Contango is a Houston-based, independent natural gas and oil company. The Company's core business is to explore, develop, produce and acquire natural gas and oil properties offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. Contango Operators, Inc. (“COI”), its wholly-owned subsidiary, acts as operator on certain offshore prospects. The Company also holds investments in companies focused on commercializing environmentally preferred energy technologies.

Ken Peak, Contango's founder passed away on April 19, 2013.

As of February 1, 2013 Contango offshore production was 60 Mmcfed net to the company which consists of 7 federal and 5 state of Louisiana leases.
