Junior Writer
Job Description:
PLS, Inc., a Houston-based energy publishing, research and transactions firm, is seeking an experienced writer for our expanding coverage of the global energy industry. The successful candidate will write stories under multiple mastheads covering mergers, acquisitions, exploration and production, financing and the midstream and oilfield service sectors in the US, Canada and internationally, while working with a growing team of research, editor and design professionals. The candidate will also be called upon to proofread other reports as needed. Responsibilities include writing news summaries, adding graphic and other value-added content as warranted.

The Requirements:
- Ability to write quickly, clearly and concisely under deadline pressure.
- Ability to aggregate and summarize key industry news.
- Experience working in a real-time news environment or industry research environment is desirable.
- Knowledge of the oil and gas industry and financial markets is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree.

Senior Writer-International
Job Description:
PLS, Inc., a Houston-based energy publishing, research and transactions firm, is seeking an experienced writer for our expanding coverage of the energy industry. The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for overseeing and writing (with other members of the team) three ~11,000-word reports which alternate on a three-week cycle. These three international oil and gas reports cover global M&A, oil and gas finance, and international exploration. Applicant will enjoy a fast-paced, hard-work environment where he or she can make an impact. Applicant will also enjoy working with a growing team of research, editor and design professionals. Applicant will also be called upon to write occasional stories for other reports and/or write 800-1,500-word stand-alone "market alerts" covering important breaking stories and/or feature content. Applicant must also be an excellent proofreader and editor. and assist with PLS other publications as needed.

Responsibilities include monitoring other media and writing news summaries, adding analysis, graphic content and other added-value material as warranted. Applicant will also work with the graphics department throughout the layout process, providing edits, graphic elements and guidance as needed to prepare each issue for publication.

The Requirements:
- Ability to write quickly, clearly and concisely under deadline pressure.
- 5 year-plus experience as an oil and gas and/or finance journalist or analyst.
- Creativity, flexibility and ability to enjoy a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in a real-time news environment or industry research environment is desirable.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will work with a growing team of research and editor professionals to ensure our tri-weekly Capital Markets newsletter provides our clients with timely, insightful coverage of market moving events in the energy finance space. A&D Technical Senior Professional
Job Description:
PLS is seeking a senior professional to provide technical leadership for its A&D and capital markets efforts. The professional should be a Petroleum Engineer by training, and should be well rounded in all aspects of oil and gas reservoir engineering and operations. The ideal candidate should have strong quantitative and analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of offering priorities.

Responsibilities:
-Provide quantitative and qualitative input for new deal proposals, due diligence, and marketing of deals
-Source transactions and assist in creation of proposals and industry updates
-Lead data room presentations for PLS clients
-Make independent engineering assessments and develop a comprehensive view of each transaction
-Maintain an expert level of proficiency in the use of economic evaluation software and other tools necessary for comprehensive and insightful property evaluation
-Maintain a functional literacy with a wide range of geologic basins, development and production technologies, and field developments and applications
-Maintain up-to-date knowledge of petroleum engineering and petroleum property evaluation
-Maintain technical knowledge by industry functions, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations

Qualifications:
-BS in Petroleum Engineering or other engineering discipline;
-15-20 years of upstream petroleum industry experience, with senior management and technical roles of increasing responsibility
-Experience in reservoir engineering with a particular emphasis on property evaluation and development
-Experience specifically in the area of A&D technical evaluation
-Knowledge of economic evaluation of petroleum properties using DCF techniques and experience with economic evaluation software (ARIES and PHDWin)
-Familiarity with wide variety of geologic basins and project types
-Leadership skills and ability to lead projects
-Excellent work ethic; highly motivated with ability to handle multiple tasks
-Desire to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, entrepreneurial environment
